AIRS Test Battery

Would you like to participate in our research study?

Singing is everywhere.  We hear it and do it every day-- sometimes when nobody is looking or listening.  It’s universal, an activity found across cultures.  Yet, many people are shy about their singing voice.  To learn more about how, why and when people sing, how singing affects human development, education, and well-being, and how singing and creativity are related we need to study examples of people singing.  Our current study focuses on how singing abilities develop and change over lifetimes.

The Singing Interview:

The AIRS Test Battery of Singing Skills is fully operational and participants can contact us using our phone or e-mail address listed below to schedule a time to participate.  The test operates between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. and we are able to test one participant per hour.  It will take approximately 30 minutes and takes place in the CMTC/AIRS laboratory in the basement of the Robertson Library at UPEI.  If these hours do not work for you, please contact us and we can make arrangements for an alternative time.  No prior singing experience is needed.  Upon completion of the test your name will be entered into a draw for great prizes!

We are looking for participants who are:

Male and Female
Of any age (5 years and older)
Non-musicians and non-singers

Our Location:

All tests are conducted in the CMTC/AIRS laboratory, though a mobile version of the test can be used to suit participants’ needs.  The CMTC/AIRS Laboratory is located in the basement of the Robertson Library on campus at the University of Prince Edward Island.  Please see the map below.
